Introducing our magnificent Staff

Sinead & Kelly-----------------------------------Ben-----------------------------------Taryn & Alex

This Week

Guy Tortora

GuyTortora was born & raised in Pasadena, California, but now lives in London, England. He is a songwriter, vocalist, guitar player -- a musical artist who may confound expectations; combining in his work elements of jazz, folk, blues & country music, both in his original compositions and in the songs he chooses to "cover". In solo or duo performances, or with the Guy Tortora Band he is carving out a singular niche on the Roots 'n' Blues scene in the UK & Europe. Some describe his music as postcards from a personal Storyville, delivered with conviction and passion.

Lights Out By Nine

"Learning their craft through the classic songs of the blues and soul masters, Lights Out By Nine have now developed a collection of their own original songs, which is commanding a growing amount of media attention. The first ten of these songs are featured on the band's first alloriginal album "Moving On". This album had it's first radio play in Boston, Massachusetts, and since then has been played in Germany, Russia and Scandanavia, and of course throughout the UK. Lights Out By Nine continued to build on their growing reputation as a great live band, playing gigs and festivals with crowds of up to 20,000 as in Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens. August 2001 saw the band's third consecutive appearance at the Gardens, the last two being televised live. Two live sessions for BBC Radio Scotland's "Blues and Soul Show" with host Dougie Vipond, and a "Live at the Lemon Tree" were followed by a live session on BBC Radio 2's Paul Jones Show, arguably the UK's premier blues broadcast.

A house P.A. and back line are provided, all you have to do is bring your own instruments and play.

Barry's CD Choice Of The Month

Ian Siegal - "Meat & Potatoes" - NUG502 - Nugene Records

Ian Siegal is regarded as one of the finest Blues voices on this side of the Atlantic. It has often been said that had Ian been around in the Sixties his name today would very probably rank alongside those of Joe Cocker, Van Morrison and Eric Clapton. His new CD and the first on an internationally distributed label, sees Ian returning to his roots – the raw, passionate, urban Blues that fired his early passion for the Blues. It also shows him to be a commanding songwriter in a Muddy Waters-meets-Tom Waits vein. Equally at home sitting on a stool with an old resonator guitar, or fronting his band with Stratocaster in hand, his voice and guitar playing are emotional and powerful. Rarely does anyone go away from an Ian Siegal concert unmoved by his emotional connection with, and depth of understanding of the Blues. This album captures that power and depth.
